At Oregon's Wild Harvest and Susan's Herbs, our goal is to bring you the most effective herbal supplements available anywhere.
To do this, we adhere to a responsible practice of environmental stewardship, validated scientific research, and the strictest of production standards to preserve the integrity and natural therapeutic properties of our quality organic herbs.
It took Oregon's Wild Harvest two years to transition into a Demeter® Certified Biodynamic®farm. Today, the farm not only grows certified organic herbs, but Certified Biodynamic® ones as well! The motivation for doing this stems from the company's philosophy to naturally heal the body and earth. When looking at the foundation of biodynamic farming, it just made sense.
The farm is basically viewed as a single organism that is capable of meeting its own needs, without the assistance of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. We agree with the founder of biodynamic farming, Dr. Rudolf Steiner, that the key to good health for the people and the planet is total sustainability in agriculture. Nutrient-rich soil is of course the foundation of this sustainability.
Biodynamic Defined
Biodynamic agriculture takes in to account the forces and cosmos of the Earth, and combines them with those of the plants, animals and human beings. It works on the basis that everything is interrelated, working to harmonize the environment and ecosystem of the farm and promote sustainability within that environment. It is our goal to maintain a biodynamic farm that works without help from the outside world, besides the addition of minerals from lime and rock phosphate.
"Everything is interrelated. Healthy food is our medicine. Growing herbs on a holistic farm is just another quest in our path to provide customers with only the healthiest plant material available on the planet." - Randy Buresh, Co-Founder
